Questions we get on the first call.

If yours is not here, it is a better use of twenty minutes than a form.

Does anyone have to approve our posts before they go out?

No. The UK has no pre-approval regime for dental advertising, which is the part practices get wrong. Nobody checks your advert until someone complains about it, and by then it has been published. That is why the check happens on our side, before it is scheduled.

Can we still post before-and-after photos?

Yes, and you should, because they are the most persuasive thing you have. The conditions are a recorded consent for publication, and a fair comparison: same lighting, same angle, no retouching and no filter. We hold the consent records alongside the images.

Why can we not write Botox in a caption?

Because it is a prescription-only medicine, and advertising prescription-only medicines to the public is prohibited under the Human Medicines Regulations. It applies to captions, hashtags, replies and direct messages, not only to paid ads. We write about the treatment and the consultation instead, which is permitted.

What actually happens if someone complains?

The ASA asks you to substantiate what you said, usually within days, and publishes its ruling with your practice named. A concern raised with the GDC runs separately and far longer: in 2025 the GDC averaged around 78 working weeks to reach the decision point. Almost nobody loses their registration over advertising. The cost is the time, the public record and the content you have to pull.

Can we describe ourselves as specialists?

Only if you are on the relevant GDC specialist list, and then only for that title. It is a routine finding: a registrant has been formally warned over a description on a practice website she had not written herself. We check titles and credentials against the register before they appear anywhere.

We are an NHS or mixed practice. Does this apply to us?

Yes, and it brings one extra trap: anything you say about what is available on the NHS, what is private and what either costs has to be accurate and current. Mixed practices get complaints about pricing and availability more often than about clinical claims.

Do you replace our in-house marketing team?

Either way works. Some practices hand over the whole channel. Others keep creative in-house and use us only for the review and the evidence file.

Who owns the content and the accounts?

You do. Accounts, content, the archive and the evidence file stay with the practice, and they leave with you if we stop working together.
